Nan Li, born in Xi’an, China, began her piano studies at the age of four, guided by esteemed professors at the Xi’an Conservatory of Music, the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, and the former head of the Piano Department at the St. Petersburg Conservatory in Russia. Her extraordinary talent was evident from a young age; at seven, she made her stage debut and earned the title "Prodigy Pioneer" in the youth division of the Perth Cup Piano Competition. Following rigorous professional training in China’s most prestigious institutions, her skills as a pianist flourished.
At 18, Nan Li moved to Vienna, Austria, to continue her artistic development. She pursued advanced studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MDW), the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz, and the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna (MUK). Under the mentorship of renowned European pianists and educators such as Igor Koch, Gottfried Hemetsberger, and Johannes Marian, she honed her craft and achieved notable success as both a performer and educator. In 2012, she completed her Master's degree in Piano Performance with distinction, earning special recognition for her dissertation, “Czerny and His Etudes.”
Nan Li’s teaching career reflects her profound expertise and passion for nurturing the next generation of pianists. Her holistic teaching approach focuses not only on technical mastery but also on developing musicality and performance confidence. Her students have excelled in competitions and gained admission to leading international music institutions, including the Mozarteum University Salzburg and the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
As a performer, Nan Li has graced prestigious stages across China, Europe, and the United States. She has appeared in over 30 concerts annually, performing in renowned venues such as the Golden Hall of the Musikverein, the Baroque Concert Hall in Vienna, the Bösendorfer Hall, the International Piano Festival in New York, and the International Piano Competition Concert in Italy. Her performances showcase a depth of artistry and technical brilliance that captivate audiences worldwide.
With her extensive teaching experience and profound musical knowledge, Nan Li is committed to fostering the growth of emerging piano talents. Her dual roles as a celebrated pianist and gifted pedagogue have enabled her to bridge cultural and academic connections between Europe and Asia. Through close collaborations with leading music institutions and professors worldwide, she provides her students with precise guidance, helping them succeed in auditions, exams, and interviews.
Nan Li’s dedication to creating opportunities for her students extends beyond teaching; she has established platforms for direct dialogue with international music schools and faculty, offering her students a pathway to the global stage and laying a strong foundation for their future careers. Her work continues to inspire and shape the next generation of musicians.
Since January 2025, she has been a Lecturer at the Vienna Premier Music Academy (VPMA), where she mentors Highly Gifted musicians.
