Whether you’re applying for a Fest contract in Germany, auditioning for Young Artist Programmes in Italy, or navigating the freelance circuit in France or Spain, this session is for you.
Topics include:
• Entry points into the European industry: Young Artist Programmes, competitions, agencies, freelance routes, and the German Fest system
• How to build and maintain a professional network across borders
• Audition strategies: how to research, target, and prepare for auditions in different countries and contexts
• Understanding the European opera structure: key players (intendants, casting directors, agents), how and when to contact them, and how to present yourself
• Career planning and visibility: from website and materials to social media and professional branding
• How to manage your career proactively in a field shaped by season-based contracts, funding fluctuations, and cultural differences
